Brother Albert D. Kerr

 -1971-

A master's job is never done, it lives on through the ages.

The annual Installation of Officer's was held on January 2nd and there was special music by the Madrigal singers of Hoover High School. After the installation light refreshments were served in the dining hall.

In the first month of his taking over Worshipful Master Kerr had to deal with the passing of 4 of his brethren. This is a lot to deal with after just taking office. In the May stated meeting it was noted that Bro. William Beaver, A Clovis Policeman, had been very busy in the apprehension of several criminals in the Clovis area.

In the stated meeting of June both the Senior and Junior Warden's tended their resignations. Bro. Dennis Cobb, the Senior Warden was transferred in his job. Bro. Jack Howell the Junior Warden resigned his position to be able to take that of Senior Warden. A special dispensation from the Grand Lodge was asked for to hold a special election. Installation for these two office's were held in July.

In August a vote of thanks was give to Bro. Norman Meachum of Ponderosa Lodge for the gift of the rough and perfect ashlars he presented to Clovis Lodge which are still in use 30 years later.

In October there was a letter read from the Clovis Chamber of Commerce asking if the Lodge would like to have a sign on the new entry sign at the edge of town on the highway coming into town. It was carried by motion and vote to have the sign placed for the sum of $25.00.

The annual Roll Call dinner was held on December 2nd and there were two brothers who received their 50 year pins. They were Bro's Herbert William Matthews and John Ferdinand Grabner both members of Clovis Lodge. The following brethren were lost to death in this year: Bro's Jay Witmer Shank, Charles Buell Thorpe, George Pierce Baley, Jule Peter Funch, Emory Lee Cobb, Henry John Gross, Frank Tyree Bell, Benjamin Harrison Boulton, Arthur Norton Peters, and Ray Earl Nichols.
